Instagram and other social media platforms from Facebook like WhatsApp, Twitter and even Facebook could be banned in India if the company does not comply with the new IT rules. Rumours had already shook the internet that these platforms will be banned soon for users in India. If you will open any of these apps, everywhere you will notice “Good Bye”, #TwitterBan in India. A number of Memes have already been made on these topics.
Why these apps are getting banned in India?
On 25th February 2021, the Government of India gave three-months time to the social media companies to comply with the new IT rules. As per the regulations, social media companies have to follow additional due diligence, like appointing a grievance officer, appointing a chief compliance officer, nodal contact person, and a resident. If the companies will not comply with the new regulations, they could loose their intermediary status.
It’s been three months, and the time is over but none of the companies including WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook had complied with the new regulations. This is the reason why there are so many rumours on the internet that these apps are gonna banned in India. However nothing happened yet. All these apps are working well.
